On October 24, CRBC’s two projects won awards at the inaugural Civil Engineering Excellence Awards presentation ceremony organised by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. The Lok Ma Chau Loop Development – Phase 1 Main Works received the Platinum Award, while the Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Promenade Southern Bridge Project received the Gold Award.

 

 

The Civil Engineering Excellence Awards consist of one Platinum Award, two Gold Awards and three Silver Awards. Judging panel based on five core criteria: engineering excellence, sustainability, social impact, quality and safety, and innovation. Outstanding and representative projects are selected through rigorous evaluation from numerous entries.

 

The double honour fully demonstrates CRBC’s strength in technological innovation and professional construction capability, setting a new benchmark for Hong Kong’s engineering industry.

 

The Lok Ma Chau Loop Development Project adopted a lot of innovative construction methods. In particular, we independently developed 360-degree rotating special lifting frame, combined with the innovative full-span erection method for precast segmental bridges, successfully tackled major construction challenges and achieved the goals of faster progress, higher efficiency, larger scale and superior quality.

 

Featuring an elegant curved single-arch design, the Tseung Kwan O Waterfront Promenade Southern Bridge adopted S690 high-strength steel construction technology and DfMA methods. With the innovative construction scheme of "stepping-over", the project delivered outstanding results including zero safety incidents, early completion and reduced carbon emissions, fully reflecting exceptional innovation capability and project execution.
