The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the UK recently released a special report selecting 13 iconic engineering landmarks from around the world for inclusion into travel bucket list. The Cross Bay Link in Hong Kong, undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), has been named to this list. It now stands alongside world-renowned landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, and Machu Picchu in Peru—a testament to the project’s significant international influence.

The article highlights three key features of the Cross Bay Link, Tseung Kwan O, a major and highly representative infrastructure project in Hong Kong:
I. Green Sustainability and Innovative Design.
The project incorporates innovative S690 high-strength steel and a forward-looking structural design. Recognized for its exceptional green and sustainable construction, it was awarded the ICE Brunel Medal by the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK)—a benchmark for international green engineering and innovative construction.
II. A Multifunctional, Integrated Travel Experience.
Spanning 1.8 kilometers across Tseung Kwan O Bay, the bridge integrates a carriageway, a footway, and a cycle track. It comprehensively addresses both urban commuting needs and recreational/fitness requirements, enhancing transport accessibility and the quality of public services in the Kowloon East of Hong Kong.
III. Striking Architectural Aesthetics and an Iconic Urban Landmark.
The bridge’s unique double-arch steel structure forms an "infinity symbol (∞)"—a design characterized by clean, bold lines and high visual distinctiveness. With its exceptional architectural aesthetics and coastal vistas, it has become an iconic Hong Kong landmark, specifically recommended by the Institution of Civil Engineers (UK) as a must-visit coastal engineering attraction.
Since the commencement of its construction, the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link has received over 100 domestic and international awards, thanks to its innovative design and construction techniques. The project was named "Hong Kong’s Most Popular Infrastructure Project of the Past 25 Years" and was also nominated as one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Bridges in China (2020–2025)" by a prestigious domestic organization.
