On April 17, the 2026 Award Ceremony of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the 2025 Annual Award Ceremony of the Hong Kong Building Information Modelling Society (HKBIM) were held successively. Two key projects undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation won awards respectively, fully demonstrating the company’s strong capabilities in engineering technology innovation and project management.
Among them, the Lok Ma Chau Loop Development Project (Contract No.: YL/2020/02, known as "Main Works for Phase 1 Development of Lok Ma Chau Loop in Hong Kong - Contract 2") won the "Hong Kong Institution of Engineers Awards 2026 - Bronze Award", leveraging the successful application of two core innovative technologies: "full-span erection method" and " 360° rotating special lifting frame ". These two innovative technologies have effectively overcome the technical difficulties in the project construction, greatly improved the construction efficiency and safety guarantee level, and received high recognition and affirmation from the review experts, providing valuable experience for similar bridge construction.
The other award-winning project is the Construction of Siu Ho Wan Water Treatment Works and Raw Water Booster Station (Contract No.: 7/WSD/21). This project won the "Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Project - Grand Award" at the 2025 Annual Awards of the Hong Kong Building Information Modelling Society, thanks to the in-depth integration and application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology throughout the entire project life cycle. The project team integrated BIM technology into the whole process of design, construction and management, built a central intelligent information management platform, implemented MiMEP, and adopted advanced means such as BIM+MR simulation and intelligent data collection. It not only greatly improved the project coordination efficiency and management refinement, but also achieved zero safety accidents throughout the construction process, setting a benchmark for BIM application in similar infrastructure projects across Hong Kong.
The two projects winning awards this time are not only a high recognition of China Road and Bridge’s technological innovation capability and project management level, but also mark that the company’s technical strength and industry influence in Hong Kong’s infrastructure construction field have ranked among the top. It has laid a solid foundation for the company to further deepen its presence in the Hong Kong market and expand its business horizons ahead.
