On May 16, the Tseung Kwan O South Bridge project undertaken by China Road and Bridge Corporation won the 2025 Design Excellence Award for Safety presented by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and Mr. Chen Siwei, an employee of the company, won the sole 2025 Best Safety Engineer Award.
The Safety Excellence Design Annual Award aims to recognize outstanding achievements in the field of safety design and innovation, encourage a safety culture of continuous improvement, set higher industry standards, and contribute to a safer and more sustainable future by evaluating five aspects of the project: safety design, scalable safety management, engineering innovation, engineering teams, and the integration of safety and engineering.
The Tseung Kwan O Seaside South Bridge is a unique pedestrian bridge with a wave theme, using S690 high-strength steel and integrating a large number of innovative technologies and aesthetic elements throughout the bridge. The China Road and Bridge Engineering team has successfully overcome construction difficulties and challenges while significantly reducing safety risks through two innovative technologies: Prefabricated Design and Construction Technology (DfMA) and "Small Bridge Over Large Bridge".
