On June 28th, the completion ceremony of the bridge for CRBC’s Lok Ma Chau Loop Development Project (Contract No: YL/2020/02) was held at the bridge construction site. With the successful completion of the full span erection of the last span, it marks the early completion of all the bridges for the project. Mr. Fong Hok-shing, Director of the Civil Engineering and Development Department, served as the main guest of honor at the ceremony, together with the Chairman of the Construction Industry Council, Mr. Ho On sing, Deputy Secretary of the Development Bureau, Mr. Ho Ying kit, and five LegCo members, to witness this important moment.

The full span deck erection of segmental bridge is an innovative construction technique, which involves pre assembling segmental bridge spans at the low level and erecting them as a whole span. This solution combines self-propelled modular transportor, strand-jacking systems, telescopic beam support systems, as well as building information modeling (BIM), photogrammetry, and 3D LiDAR scanning technologies to successfully overcome various engineering challenges. Ultimately, it reduces 90% of road closures, 80% of work-at-height activities, 30% of carbon emissions, and 25% of bridge deck construction time, ensuring site safety and minimizing the impact on citizens.
