On June 11th, CRBC Hong Kong received the Letter of Acceptance for the first package of the Hong Kong Northern Link (Contract 1635). This project is the first project of the NOL project, and its successful bid has laid a solid foundation for the bidding of subsequent NOL mainline and spur line projects.
The Northern Link project is one of the seven railways proposed in the Hong Kong Railway Development Plan 2014, which includes both the main and spur line. The main line connects Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line and Kam Sheung Road Station on the Tuen Ma Line, including the construction of Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line, as well as the construction of a 10.7km railway line and four stations. The spur line connects the San Tin Station connection between the eastern and western New Territories. This will not only unleash the development potential of the northern land in Hong Kong, but also add cross-border channels in the "Collaborative Innovation Zone" and further upgrade the existing cross-border transportation and related mechanisms.
The first package of the Northern Link mainly includes the design and construction of temporary diaphragm walls (for the subsequent project of tunnel boring machine (TBM) launching shafts), the design and construction of a temporary substation located on San Tan Road, the diversion of existing road works, slopes, retaining walls, drainage systems and public facilities, as well as related ancillary facilities.
