To align with the target of commissioning the Hong Kong Loop Technology Park for operation within this year, the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) is pressing ahead with associated infrastructure works at full steam, targeting full opening of the newly built access roads in the third quarter.
In a social media post issued today (the 4th), CEDD announced that the full-span erection bridge for the fourth section spanning Castle Peak Road (Chau Tau Section) of Bridge ST01—linking Lok Ma Chau Road to Fanling Highway and San Tin Highway—was completed in the early hours of the 22nd of last month, achieving another vital milestone for the works.

CEDD explained that the project adopted an innovative full-span erection bridge technique, which drastically cut the frequency of night works and road closures. This arrangement safeguards site safety while minimising disruption to the public.
The erection of the fourth span completed recently posed significant challenges. Owing to the complex terrain along Castle Peak Road (Chau Tau Section), the project team deployed digital technologies including Building Information Modelling (BIM), photogrammetry and 3D LiDAR scanning to run environmental simulations and on-site trials prior to erection, ensuring flawless execution. The successful erection of the fourth span is attributed to the concerted efforts of the entire project team.
Under the work schedule, erection for the final fifth span will be finished in June. Upon completion, the main bridge structure spanning the busy Castle Peak Road will be largely completed.
CEDD added that the project team will continue to press ahead at full capacity to ensure the timely opening in the third quarter of all associated infrastructure works – comprising the Bridge ST01, direct link roads and an elevated public transport interchange – to underpin the development and operation of the Hong Kong Loop Technology Park.
