In order to achieve quick installation of bridge over a busy highway, project team of CRBC (HK) independently developed an innovative full-span deck erection technology using SPMT and strand-jack lifting system, which was successfully adopted for the erection of segmental bridge across Fanling and San Tin Highway in the Lok Ma Chau Loop Development project, achieving an ambitious construction target of “erection of one span within one night”. It is a first application in Hong Kong construction industry. Leveraging its core strengths of high efficiency and safety, it overcame the limitations of conventional construction methods, demonstrating our innovative strength and technical cutting-edge in the field of infrastructure construction.
Compared with conventional balanced cantilever construction method, this technology offers distinct advantages, rendering the application process highly efficient and controllable. Unlike the conventional methods with long construction duration, this innovative technique drastically shortens the construction period for erection of a single span from 16 days to less than half a day, substantially increasing construction efficiency. Furthermore, by optimizing the construction sequence, it significantly reduces the need for working at height and the numbers of nighttime road closures, thereby mitigating safety risks and minimizing disruptions to the traffic and local communities.
