In order to eliminate the repeated installation and removal of the massive temporary working platform in the existing nullah and reduce the use of heavy lifting for relocating temporary working platform, we developed the application of Remote-controlled Self-propelled Piling Platform in the Yuen Long South project for construction works in the existing nullah effectively addresses the key challenges of working in the river channel and delivers comprehensive improvements in multiple aspects:
A. Solving Site Constraints: It effectively overcomes the site constraints of the lack of working space along and within river channels, avoiding the occupation of the adjacent roads and ensuring smooth project progress.
B. Enhancing Site Safety: It significantly reduce the number of workers required for the installation and removal of temporary working platform, particularly the riggers. The hazards related to the working over the water are also reduced.
C. Boosting Construction Efficiency: It enables continuous high-efficiency operations free from rainy season restrictions, greatly shortening the overall construction period.
D. Practicing Environmental Protection: It minimises disturbance to river ecology and public traffic along river channels, achieving concurrent improvement in safety, quality, efficiency and environmental performance. It also provides valuable practical reference for future similar river channel projects.
